Toronto Metropolitan University

Toronto Metropolitan University, first called the Ryerson Institute of Technology, was founded in 1948 to meet the need for people in skilled trades. Ryerson had a name change in 1963, when it was called Ryerson Polytechnic Institute. In 2002, Ryerson’s name was shortened to Ryerson University. Recently, the institution has recently received their new name change to Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022. In 2014, Ryerson was ranked the top institution for undergraduate research. The university offers graduate programs in Environmental Applied Science and Management, Engineering, Spatial Analysis, and Communication and Culture.

Alumni of Ryerson University include civil engineer and entrepreneur Nasra Agil, former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova, and television personalities Joseph Motiki and Tanya Kim.
